Wednesday Post.

Investing intentional time into relationships is important.

Investing intentional time into marriage is also important.

Investing intentional time into your marriage when you live in a big house with not only your spouse, but 5 other people, is VERY important.

Because time moves swiftly and gets filled up faster than we care to notice. And things fall by the wayside. And life gets busy with good things, little things, fun things.

And we forget.

We forget to take time for the people we love the most...

Eric and I realized this the hard way. We got caught up in all the activities that were always happening in and around our house, and we forgot to spend intentional time together. Alone. Just the two of us.

And it took a toll. And we suffered there for a while. And we wondered why things were so hard. And we argued. And we weren't connecting. And so on and so forth...

And then someone told us that we weren't spending enough time together by ourselves.

Oh.

It was that easy.

Time, spent together...

Hmmmmm.

This isn't rocket science, is it?

So yes, we found out the hard way... but the good news is that we did find out, and now we're trying to learn from and correct our mistakes.

One of the ways we are trying to do this is by setting aside one night a week (Wednesdays) that's just for us. Wednesday is the night we etched out of our schedule to devote to our marriage and each other. Wednesday is ours.

Wednesday.

And so, in honor of Wednesdays, here is one of my first Wednesday posts about time spent with Eric.

The day consisted of many good things, but one of the highlights was a trip downtown to eat at a local hot dog joint, Skippy's. It's a cute little shop right in the middle of main street, and not only do they have a very low-key, relaxing atmosphere, but they serve the best-tasting hot dogs in North Carolina.

We had a nice little time.
